About Pride of West Texas Show Chorus

Our chorus is a membership organization of female acappella singers providing a unique musical experience of four part harmony. We meet every Monday evening for rehearsal to  harmonize, perform, socialize, and have a great time! We are currently growing our membership of 40+ singers from age 16 and on up to anyone that can carry a tune. There is no age limit in singing barbershop! Our members are from Lubbock and the surrounding communities and we even have a number of women who travel from Abilene, TX to have the opportunity to harmonize with our well established chorus. So, if you can carry a tune, we hope you will come to a rehearsal, check us out and determine if you could see yourself standing on the risers with us!

Performance

Our goal is to sing and educate our community in this original artform of Barbershop. We produce our annual show each year, volunteer our entertainment at numerous community events in Lubbock and the surrounding areas, participate with our float in the 4th of July Parade, perform at the 4th on Broadway celebration, perform the national anthem at Texas Tech games and compete in a five state region to retain our professional singing & performing skills.  If you're looking for a unique musical experience to liven up your event, please check out our Hire Us section.

Education

In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of acapella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. Each year we have the opportunity to have our chorus coached by renowned coaches from all over the world  in the art of barbershop, teaching us how to perfect our sound and ring chords by instructing us with many fabulous tricks of the trade.

CompetitionIn the spring of every year, Pride of West Texas Show Chorus participates in the Region 25 chorus competition currently being held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to perform our competition package and receive constructive feedback from a panel of certified Sweet Adeline International  judges. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories travel to International Competition, held in the fall in a city selected each year.

Quartets

Most choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. Our chorus currently is home to a number of wonderful quartets, and we are very proud of them! Click here to see our quartet section to learn more about them.
